Grenada Billfish Tournament update!

Yellowfin tuna - 150 lbs
Thought everyone would like to know how the billfish tournament is going.

Thursday (17.1) was the second day and went down there again to see if any records were broken.

In the billfish department, none as yet, but they had this 417Lb Blue Marlin on the scales. Apparently there have been getting lots of hookups, but none which the anglers think will break any records (or at least, none which decide to give up the fight!).

Wednesday I saw a couple of Yellowfin tunas being landed, including this 150lb specimen. If i'm not mistaken, it was the largest for the first day.

A dolfin may break the official record for the tournament. At 53lb its not the largest i've seen, but would have to check the tournament record to see if it qualifies.
Tomorrow is a rest day, so there will not be any fishing until Saturday.
Will just have to wait and see what comes to the scale.

What do they do with the fish caught? Do they cut up and distribute to poor Grenadians?

I soo wanted to find a boat to tag along with or at least hang around and check out the big catches! Too bad it's the same week as Orientation week at SGU - I'm busy leading student tours around the island... ::sigh::
