Ixora Villa in Lance Aux Epines, Grenada

What we may think is a perfect getaway, others may find not to be their first, second or even third choice.

With that in mind, here are two which we think are prime examples of what a villa in the Caribbean, or at least, a Villa with Caribbean flair, should look like.

Ixora villa is located in Lance Aux Epines, along the shore of Coral Cove.
It is cozy, well decorated and has all the amenities you would expect, from a jacuzzi to a pool.

Honestly speaking, as it is by the sea and has its own jetty, i think it is one of the nicer ones around. If you get tired of relaxing in the pool and watching the day go by, you can always go for a swim off the jetty. The garden around the property has been cultivated to give you more privacy, and this is one of the nicer touches, i find.

All that greenery also makes it a little cooler, and with the ocean breeze to go with it, i doubt anyone uses the A/C in the rooms (though i have been known to be wrong about that).

Reefview Villa

This villa is situated on a hillside overlooking Secret Harbour.

The layout is totally different from the previous one. There is no jetty to take a dip in the sea from, and the garden does not encroach on the building to give privacy. Instead, there is a spectacular view of the surrounding neighborhood, Secret Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean off the southeast coast.

There are actually two villas, Reef View and Turtleback, situated on different levels of the property, totally independent of each other.

Both are well accented and decorated, with pools and even an upstairs barbecue/relaxation area. As they are on a hillside with unimpeded views of the sea, they get the full benefit of the ocean breezes.

It is hard to choose between them. My personal choice would be Reef View, but it only barely edges out Ixora as a choice.

There are lots of other villas throughout the southern end of the island, many offering more amenities, larger properties, more privacy etc, but these two capture our imagination.
