Our Tour of the Prickly Bay Waterside Development
Saturday, after our usual lime at Nick's Donuts, we decided to take a slight detour down into Lance Aux Epines.Truth be told, we had heard that there was a small garage sale down by the boatyard and went to see if there was any interesting stuff which we might want. Well, the garage sale was a bust, but while there (camera in hand) we decided to take a quick peek at the development, wander around the grounds - in other words, just be a little nosey. Originally, neither of us liked the plans for the development when we saw them, mainly because it had no 'Caribbean Flavor'. In fact, it just looked a little too futuristic, and did not fit in. Making a development which has design aspects which remind you of a cruise ship, is not to our personal taste, but you can appreciate, or at least understand why they went with that theme.
After all, it is a modern style which would appeal to the more affluent traveller - and it makes sense to have something markedly different to everyone else, to stand out. They have certainly invested a lot of time and money to make this development do exactly that, and truth be told, we found it to be quite nice! While being a little nosey, we were approached by the Sales and Operations Manager who was waiting to show one of the units to a prospective client, and he asked us if we would like to have a look around. We of course said yes, and he brought us to one of the corner units which they have set up as a display.
The attention to detail is seen throughout, and for what they are asking for the units, i can understand why. Like almost all the developments on the island, they have had to scale back construction because of the economic downturn, but they have completed the main section, and it is already on the market.
The main pool for the buildings is also completed, as you can see from the photos, and there are plans to add a small beach just off the corner apartment which we viewed.Quite frankly, it is worth the visit, just to see what they have done.
